About Broken Spoke
Changing lives—one bicycle at a time.
For more than a decade, Broken Spoke has been helping students learn valuable skills, keeping bicycles out of landfill, and ensuring more children, families, and individuals can experience the freedom, opportunity, and joy that a bicycle provides.

Student Learning
Learning by Doing
Students gain hands-on experience repairing bicycles while developing confidence, problem-solving skills, teamwork, and a strong work ethic. Every bike restored is another opportunity to learn.

Sustainability
Giving Bikes a Second Life
Every bicycle refurbished is one less bicycle destined for landfill. By restoring and reusing donated bikes, we're reducing waste while making cycling more accessible to our community.

Community
Stronger Together
Broken Spoke thrives because of the generosity of volunteers, local businesses, schools, and community partners. Together, we're creating something much bigger than a bicycle program.

Opportunity
Opening Doors
A bicycle can mean independence, recreation, confidence, connection, or a reliable way to get where you need to go. By matching donated bikes with people who need them, we create opportunities for children, families, and communities both locally and abroad.
One idea. Thousands of bicycles. Countless lives touched.
Meet Aubrey Foley
When Aubrey Foley began collecting donated bicycles at Port Colborne High School in 2015, he wasn't simply looking for a new shop project. He saw bicycles as a way to teach practical skills, build confidence, and connect students to something larger than themselves.
What began in a single high school workshop has grown into a community effort that has restored and redistributed more than 28,000 bicycles. Along the way, students have learned mechanics, volunteers have shared decades of experience, and thousands of children and families—blocally and abroad—have discovered the freedom that comes with owning a bicycle.
For Aubrey, Broken Spoke has never been just about repairing bikes. It's about recognizing potential—in a discarded bicycle, in a young person learning a new skill, and in a community willing to come together to help others.
Every bicycle that leaves the workshop carries a story of generosity, learning and community.

Where Generosity Becomes Opportunity.
